Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS THIS SESSION ALL ABOUT?
My sessions are contemporary portrait session focusing on your beauty. We will make a specific plan during your consultation, but the goal of these sessions (both glamour and boudoir) are to make you look and feel amazing, beautiful, and confident. If you want hear more about why I started these sessions, click here.
I WISH! I DON'T LOOK LIKE THE LADIES ON THIS SITE!
GIRL. Know who walks into their session thinking “Caroline is going to plaster her site with images of me…”? NOBODY. The women featured in my portfolio thought the same things you’re thinking. Pinky promise. If you REALLY don’t think you can – check out 5 reasons you shouldn’t book right now.
WHO SHOULD BOOK A SESSION?
Silly question – YOU! But in all seriousness, anyone can have a reason to celebrate yourself. Whether you’re going through a large transition in life, want to surprise your significant other, or just want to treat yourself, our sessions are for you.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
As soon as you’re thinking about a session, contact me! It’s best to call at least two months in advance to allow for scheduling your session, printing, and to receive your products in time for any special occasions. We’ve been known to make things happen if you have a tighter deadline! On average, we book 3-6 months in advance.
DO YOU INCLUDE HAIR AND MAKEUP?
Yes! I work with awesome hair and makeup artists, and all of our sessions include professional hair and makeup in your session fee. I only use makeup artists that I know and love, to ensure your beauty translates perfectly in camera.
HOW LONG IS THE SESSION?
Please set aside three hours for your session, inclusive of hair and makeup for your session date – we allow 90 minutes for hair and makeup, as well as about 90 minutes for shooting.
WHERE DO YOU SHOOT?
All of our sessions are done in my private studio, located in the heart of Mills 58 in Peabody, MA. I do love to travel, so get in touch if you want to chat about a session on location!
CAN I BRING A FRIEND?
For boudoir sessions, we ask that while we shoot, it’s just me and you, however having a friend/cheerleader is always welcome during hair and makeup if you need it!
While we only shoot how you are comfortable, many of our poses leave you feeling a little <<ahem>> exposed from angles other than my camera. Trust me when I say those are not the angles you want your bestie to see.
SHOULD I TAN FIRST?
IN SHORT, NO YOU SHOULD NOT SPRAY TAN BEFORE YOUR SESSION.
We of course want you to feel confident, but I recommend avoiding spray tans or tanning beds. Photoshop does nothing for tan lines, so unless that’s the look you’re going for, skip the sun before your session. Spray tans can lead to unnatural skin tones and telling signs around your hands and elbows. On top of that, the chemicals can RUIN studio furniture causing permanent stains.
It’s best to jsut wear colors that compliment your natural skin tone to make you feel great (don’t worry, we’ll help you with that)!
I repeat, DO NOT SPRAY TAN BEFORE YOUR SESSION.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
Not to worry! At our consultation, we’ll talk about pieces that will accentuate your most gorgeous features, without having to purchase an entire new wardrobe. We also allow all of our boudoir clients to raid our studio closet, which we can walk you through! We also have an entire wardrobe guide that we give to all of our clients!
You do not need to bring an entire lingerie closet! Boyfriend t shirts, cheeky panties, and soft sweaters always photograph well, along with bra and panty sets and bodysuits. Of course, you can always go au naturale and not wear anything at all. SPOILER ALERT: These will ALWAYS be your favorite images.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?
I suggest getting a manicure because your hands will most likely show. I recommend shaving the morning of your session, or if you’re planning to wax, please schedule your appointment 2-3 days before to ensure that there is no redness. Please moisturize after your shower to make sure that your skin is smooth. Please arrive with clean dry hair and a fresh face. Don’t forget to schedule a fun night out on the town after your session!
We’ll be reminding you of all the details in our planning process, and session prep guides that we share with our clients as well 🙂
I BOOKED MY SESSION AND I'M FREAKING OUT!!!
First, don’t panic! Call me, email me, text me, and I’ll remind you of what an awesome experience this will be! It’s totally normal to be nervous before being photographed.
I’ve been there, I’ve had the same pit in my stomach, and I can calm your fears. By the end of your session (or really not that far into it), all of that anxiety will melt away, and you’ll feel amazing.
We’ve also got an incredible network of women, many of whom have gone through the boudoir experience in our VIP Facebook Group! It’s like having a built in support system and cheerleading squad!
I WILL BOOK WHEN I LOSE X POUNDS...
Cut it out. Seriously. You are beautiful right now, and deserve to see it. I photograph women of all ages and shapes, and EVERYONE has the same thought process. You are NOT the one woman I can’t photograph. I promise.
